Jason Kelce, the cornerstone of the Philadelphia Eagles‘ offensive line, has retired, leaving a gap in the team. Yet, Lane Johnson isn’t ready to bid farewell to Kelce’s Eagles career just yet.
Kelce‘s journey is nothing short of a Philadelphia legend. With six first-team All-Pro selections and seven Pro Bowl appearances, his career is a storybook in itself.

“Definitely would like to have him in the building a few days out of the week,” Johnson noted.
“He’s a guy that can tell if a game plan is going to work you know Wednesday or Thursday of a of a week.”
Kelce’s replacement
His retirement announcement was an emotional moment and now the Eagles are preparing for the next chapter.
“It is difficult to put into words how much Jason Kelce has meant to everyone in this organization, to the City of Philadelphia, and to our fans,” said Eagles Chairman and CEO Jeffrey Lurie.
“He gave everything he had to all of us for 13 years, and he did it in a way that was truly authentic. Jason was an incredible football player; a future Hall of Famer who would have been successful anywhere. But has there ever been a more perfect marriage between a player, a city, and a team?
Stepping into the spotlight is Cam Jurgens, poised to inherit Kelce‘s legacy. Johnson, in an appearance on “The Herd,” shared insights on Jurgens, indicating a seamless transition.
“Cam Jurgens coming in a tremendous talent, really played well at Right Guard for us last year, so he’s going to slide to Center,” Johnson said.
Having played 28 games and started 11 as a right guard in 2023, Jurgens is far from a novice. Now, shifting to center, he faces new pressures and expectations, as noted by NFL media.
“I’m just trying to be myself,” Jurgens stated.
