The sporting world had plenty of reactions to the failed assassination attempt of former U.S President and 2024 Republican nominee, Donald Trump, on Saturday.
Donald Trump was leading a rally at the Butler Farm Show Grounds in Butler, Pennsylvania on Saturday. Gunshots were heard just after 6:10 p.m. EST, and nearby Secret Service agents quickly rushed to the stage to protect Trump.
Trump was seen bleeding out of his ear after the agents helped him back up to his feet. The 78-year-old got the crowd re-energized when he performed a fist pump in the air. He was treated at the hospital and subsequently released.
According to CNN, the FBI later identified the shooter as 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks. Secret Service agents killed Crooks, who was positioned from a rooftop when he shot at the 45th president.

Donald Trump Will Continue His Presidential Campaign
At this time, all signs point to Trump continuing his presidential campaign against Biden, with the election scheduled for Nov. 5.
If Trump defeats Biden, he’ll become the second U.S. president to serve two non-consecutive terms in office. Grover Cleveland is the only one to have done so, serving in office from 1885-89 and 1893-97. Benjamin Harrison served as president between Cleveland’s two tenures.
The 2024 U.S. presidential election also marks the first rematch since 1956, when Republican Dwight D. Eisenhower defeated Democrat Adlai Stevenson II in a second consecutive election.
Biden won the 2020 election at the age of 78 in 2020, making him the oldest person to be sworn in as president. If Trump wins, he’ll tie that record and take office again, this time at the age of 78.
