Kansas City Chiefs TE Travis Kelce Opens Up About His “Frustrating” Chemistry With Patrick Mahomes

Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce admits that frustration is brewing with the lack of chemistry between him and his quarterback.

Though the Chiefs lead the AFC with an 11-1 record, the 35-year-old Travis Kelce has been noticeably quiet for large stretches of the season. He’s on pace to finish with his worst numbers since becoming a regular starter in 2014, with 75 catches for only 637 yards and two touchdowns.

During the latest edition of the “New Heights” podcast that he co-hosts with older brother Jason Kelce, Travis admitted that the frustration is mounting over the lack of chemistry with Patrick Mahomes:

Mahomes isn’t exactly having a dazzling season himself, either. The 29-year-old is averaging a career-low 248.3 passing yards per game, with just 2,979 passing yards and 19 touchdowns against 11 interceptions.

Of course, there’s good reason for Travis Kelce and Chiefs fans to maintain optimism. He didn’t exactly light it up in the regular season a year ago, but vintage Kelce returned in the postseason with 32 catches for 355 yards and three touchdowns en route to a second Super Bowl championship.
