Buffalo Bills offensive lineman Dion Dawkins spoke to the media on Thursday following a plane crash in his yard in Aurora, New York.
The National Transportation Safety Board has announced it will launch an investigation into the incident, with mechanical failure understood to be the cause.
Fortunately, no one on the ground was hurt, and Dawkins and his family are okay.
Dion Dawkins Was Feeling For The Pilot’s Family
The veteran OL was excused from practice on Thursday. He did make it to the team’s facility eventually, however, speaking to the media as he sympathized with the pilot’s family.
“I still wonder why things happen in life, but tragedies happen all of the time. The biggest point about it is I just hope that the pilot’s family is okay,” he said. “I hope that they’re doing alright, because somebody lost their life today for an accident. And I’m glad that my family is perfectly fine, the alarm systems, the security guards that are there and all of the people that are involved that help keep us safe, like everything was going off.”
Dion Dawkins has been with Buffalo since entering the NFL as a second-round pick in 2017. He has made 120 starts, appearing in 126 total games.
TPS would also like to offer condolences to the family of the pilot who lost his life in the crash.
