University Of Georgia Releases Statement After Student Was “Critically Injured” During Truck Attack In New Orleans

A driver plowed a pickup truck into the crowd early Wednesday morning on Bourbon Street in New Orleans and killed at least 15 people while injuring as many as 30 others.

We are now finding out that a University of Georgia student was among those injured in the famed French Quarter early on New Year’s Day.

University of Georgia President Jere Morehead made the announcement.

“At this point, we have learned that a University of Georgia student was critically injured in the attack and is receiving medical treatment,” UGA President Jere Morehead said Wednesday afternoon on X.

The name of the student who was critically injured was not initially released.

CNN reported that the injured Georgia Bulldogs student is 19-year-old Elle Eisele.
