Travis Kelce raved about his experience on set with Adam Sandler during the taping for Happy Gilmore 2 which is set to be released this year.
On a recent appearance on the Pat McAfee Show, the Kansas City Chiefs star marveled at his involvement in the film with one of his idols.
‘That was a dream come true,’ Kelce said, ‘I thought ‘SNL‘ was going to be the peak of my acting and showman or entertainment career.
‘Working with Happy Gilmore himself, the Sandman, and Happy Productions, it was off the chain.’
Kelce’s role in the film is currently undisclosed. However, in a recently released teaser, he appears to play the role of a country club employee.
Having been on set, Kelce raved about the crew’s professionalism while shooting ‘a few’ scenes for the picture.
‘They’re so professional and yet so fun to work with,’ Kelce shared. ‘I felt like I was working with like the [Kansas City Chiefs’ coach] Andy Reid of the acting world. [Sandler] is every bit as cool off the screen as he is on the screen.
‘That was a dream come true,’ he continued. ‘That was awesome.’
Besides Kelce, the film stars Ben Stiller, Julie Bowen, Christopher McDonald, Jacqueline Sophia London, Benny Safdie, and Nick Swardson.
Although the plot for the sequel has not been disclosed, the 1996 original followed a hot-headed hockey player who turned into a professional golfer to save his grandmother’s house from foreclosure.
Happy Gilmore was directed by Dennis Dugan and grossed $41million at the global box office despite having a $12m budget.
Netflix announced the sequel was in the works in May 2024, with Sandler reprising his role as the protagonist. In August, Sandler confirmed that Kelce would appear in the film.
