Travis Kelce’s Latest Eras Tour Appearance Holds a Special Significance to Taylor Swift

Travis Kelce is in his supportive boyfriend era. On Wednesday, the NFL star, who is scheduled to report back to Kansas City for the Chiefs training camp later this week, squeezed in another appearance at girlfriend Taylor Swift‘s Eras Tour in Gelsenkirchen, Germany, where his presence held an extra-special significance.

Not just attending any show, but rather his 13th concert, Kelce was spotted at Veltins Arena dressed in a green checkered-print polo and white shorts bopping along to his Swift’s music with as much enthusiasm as ever before.

The number 13, of course, is Swift’s lucky number. “I was born on the 13th. I turned 13 on Friday the 13th. My first album went gold in 13 weeks,” she previously explained while speaking with MTV News in 2015. “My first No. 1 song had a 13-second intro. Every time I’ve won an award I’ve been seated in either the 13th seat, the 13th row, the 13th section or row M, which is the 13th letter. Basically whenever a 13 comes up in my life, it’s a good thing.”

Coincidentally, the 2024 Super Bowl marked Swift’s 13th game in the previous NFL season. If you add up the numbers in the date of the big game, 2 and 11, it equals 13, as does the Super Bowl year 58 (5+8=13).

Swift seemingly recognized the significance of Kelce’s appearance and performed a surprise mashup of the songs “Invisible String” and “Superstar,” which both contain lyrics that arguably point to their love story. “You smile that beautiful smile / And all the girls in the front row / Scream your name,” she sang, adding: “I’m no one special, just another wide-eyed girl / Who’s desperately in love with you.”

It’s no secret that Swift is enamored by Kelce’s smile, and she even referenced his grin in her new track “So High School.” Swift then ended her mashup, singing: “And isn’t it just so pretty to think / All along there was some / Invisible string / Tying you to me / Superstar.”
