On November 13, McCain achieved a significant milestone in his career, scoring a personal best of 34 points along with 10 assists in a tightly contested game, though the 76ers were defeated by the Cleveland Cavaliers 114–106.
This outstanding performance earned him the title of Rookie of the Month for November 2024 in the Eastern Conference, making him the first player from the 76ers to receive this honor since Ben Simmons in March 2018.
Unfortunately, on December 14, McCain suffered a meniscus tear in his left knee, resulting in an indefinite absence from games. Finally, on January 10, 2025, reports mentioned that he would be unable to return for the remainder of the season.
