Colin Kaepernick wasn’t even involved with the Super Bowl halftime show, and he is being blamed for it.
Kendrick Lamar’s Super Bowl halftime show was met with mixed reactions, but according to musician Kid Rock, one person deserves blame.
Kid Rock, an ally of President Donald Trump and country star, called lyricist Kendrick Lamar’s Super Bowl 59 halftime show “DEI” and blamed the former San Francisco 49ers star quarterback for the Compton native’s appearance on stage.
Kid Rock claimed that Colin Kaepernick’s NFL protest was the real reason why Kendrick Lamar was chosen to perform the Super Bowl halftime show.
His show drew an average audience of 133.5 million viewers—more than any other halftime show in history. His performance featured SZA, Samuel L. Jackson, Serena Williams, and his famous diss track, which refers to Drake as a pedophile.
During an interview with Bill Maher, Kid Rock suggested that Kaepernick’s national anthem protest from the 2016 season set off a chain of events that ultimately led to Lamar performing at the Super Bowl.
Kid Rock argued that the rapper, along with Jay-Z, should thank Kaepernick.
“I think Jay-Z and Kendrick Lamar should both send Colin Kaepernick a bundt cake and a six-pack of beer and a thank-you note with a bunch of money in it,” Kid Rock said. “Because without him kneeling and getting everyone’s panties in a bunch over the [national] anthem-self included-I don’t think that happens.”

Back in 2012, quarterback Colin Kaepernick was one of the NFL’s most popular stars.
Four years later, he would become one of the most notable and hated when he began to kneel before games during the playing of “The Star-Spangled Banner.”
Kaepernick has said on numerous occasions that the sole purpose of kneeling during the national anthem was not to disrespect the military but to bring attention to police brutality and oppression of people of color to light.
Unfortunately, he still became a divisive figure back then and even to this day.
Once the 2016 season ended, Colin Kaepernick would never play in the NFL again.
