When Patrick Mahomes is on the field, it appears as though he is the league’s most athletic quarterback in the NFL, so clearly, it’s a given that he would have dominated the NFL Combine, right?
However, in 2017, when he was still awaiting the answer to his destiny, his performance at the NFL combine was anything but impressive-in fact, it was horrendous.
In both of his 40-yard sprint attempts at the NFL Combine, Mahomes ran a terrible 4.80. This number was not good for his stock, even if he is not a runner by purpose.
The perfect coaching staff was waiting to shape him into a nearly perfect player for the Kansas City Chiefs. It would have been unfortunate to watch his abilities go to waste on a different squad that would have attempted to develop him into a more conventional player.
Patrick Mahomes’ numbers at the NFL Combine
He was given a 6.30 grade by the NFL, and it was predicted that he would develop into a plus-starter. Every NFL fan respects him for becoming a real superstar because it makes the game much more entertaining.
