Social media is destroying President Donald Trump over his bizarre Truth Social post and factually incorrect message about “boycotting” Teslas.
As everybody knows, Elon Musk has become one of Donald Trump’s closest friends since last year, when the latter was running for president against Joe Biden and later Kamala Harris. According to The Washington Post, Musk donated a minimum of $288 million to Trump’s 2024 presidential campaign.
With Tesla’s stock dropping significantly, President Trump pulled off a strange publicity stunt to help his pal.
Taking to his Truth Social account on Monday night, Donald Trump claimed that boycotting Tesla is illegal (fact check: it’s NOT illegal). Trump then vowed to buy a new Tesla in support of Musk:
Social media had a field day teeing off on Donald Trump over his peculiar Tesla post:
“Illegal and collusive boycott. He’s an idiot,” wrote a user.
“One minute, president, but you said you would ban electric cars and green energy and go back to fossil fuels. What’s going on? Has the plan changed?” asked another.
“1 new Tesla. That should save the stock price,” joked a user.
“Calling a BOYCOTT “illegal” is LITERALLY A THREAT AGAINST THE FIRST AMENDMENT!” said a user.
“So it’s ok for Republicans to boycott companies for supporting LGBTQ, but it’s illegal to boycott Tesla when it’s CEO is actively destroying the country,” quipped another.
“Since when am I obligated to prop up Tesla?” asked a user.
Trump lived up to his promise, alright. He and Musk performed an infomercial in front of the White House, and the media was there to film Trump getting inside the vehicle:
As reported by Lora Kolodny of CNBC last week, Tesla shares have dropped for seven straight weeks, dating back to when Musk joined Trump in the White House. Whether Musk and Trump like it or not, Tesla’s plunging stocks are largely thanks to the former’s political ties to the polarizing president.
Donald Trump’s Approval Rating Is Dropping Considerably

After losing the popular vote in the 2016 and 2020 United States presidential elections, Trump easily defeated the aforementioned Kamala Harris in that department. However, the new polls show that the 78-year-old has not left the best lasting impression thus far.
According to a new poll from Emerson College Polling, President Trump’s approval rating has dropped to 47 percent, with a disapproval rating of 45 percent.
