Social media is destroying United States President Donald Trump for claiming that Tesla vandals are worse than the protestors who stormed and attacked the United States Capitol Building on Jan. 6, 2021.
Ever since Donald Trump took office on Jan. 20, countless people around the world have protested against Elon Musk and his company, Tesla Inc. Musk was Trump’s biggest donor in the 2024 United States presidential election, spending $288 million on the latter’s campaign.
Many worldwide have started the “Tesla Takedown” movement to protest Musk’s political influence in Trump’s cabinet. While the company’s stocks have plummeted, there have also been widespread reports (mainly in the United States) of Tesla dealerships and vehicles getting vandalized.
Speaking to reporters in the Oval Office, Donald Trump labeled the Tesla vandals as “terrorists” and claimed they were worse than the Jan. 6 rioters, per Sara Boboltz of the Huffington Post:
“I view these people as terrorists just like others. When I looked at those showrooms burning, and those cars — not one or two, like seven, eight, 10 burning, exploding all over the place — these are terrorists. You didn’t have that on Jan. 6, I can tell you. You didn’t have anything like that Jan. 6.”
President Trump stated that Ashli Babbitt (a Trump supporter who was shot to death by an officer while rushing to the Speaker’s Lobby) was the only one killed in the Jan. 6 riots.
Trump ignored the fact that United States Capitol Police Brian Sicknick died from natural causes following the attacks after trying to protect the building after suffering two strokes. The medical examiner stated that the attacks “played a role in his condition.”
Social media wasted no time destroying Donald Trump over his controversial remarks at the Oval Office.
“Oh do tell us more Donny…,” one user wrote.
“Comparing showrooms burning to Jan 6th just shows how disconnected Trump is from the actual scale of violence that happened at the Capitol,” wrote another.
“Wtf? 😂 Trump protects cars but not the Capitol building,” said a user.
“That’s true. No cops were viciously beaten in the showrooms. And there was no presidential election to try to overturn,” another wrote.
“People rioting = terrorists People killing cops Jan 6th = Pardoned Patriots. 🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡,” a user said.
“Nothing to see here—just the President of the United States suggesting that Americans who vandalized the cars of the company owned by his biggest political donor should be sent to a notorious prison in another country. This is insane,” wrote the Republicans against Trump account.
Thousands of Trump supporters came to Washington to protest his loss in the 2020 presidential election. He held a rally and ordered them to “fight” and stop Vice President Mike Pence from formally accepting the results, a coup that was completely unsuccessful.
Over 1,500 Donald Trump Supporters Were Arrested For Violence At The Capitol

So far, authorities have arrested more than 1,500 people for their participation in the Jan. 6 riots, with nearly 1,300 being convicted. Trump later pardoned almost every single person who tried overthrowing the federal government.
