President Donald Trump’s wish to have a “distorted” portrait of him removed from the Colorado State Capitol will be granted.
On Sunday evening, Donald Trump made headlines when he complained about his portrait that hangs at the Colorado State Capitol in Denver. Trump shared a scathing post on his Truth Social account, going after the artist and wondering why President Barack Obama’s portrait “looks wonderful.”
Trump expressed his wish to have the portrait taken down and said Colorado Governor Jared Polis “should be ashamed of himself.” Fortunately for Trump, the House Democrats decided to resolve this matter quickly.
Per NBC News, the Colorado Executive Committee of the Legislative Council announced in a statement that Donald Trump’s disliked portrait will “be stored in a secure and appropriate location, as determined by the Director of Research of Legislative Council Staff, until further notice.”
A Colorado House Democrats spokesperson also told NBC News the following:
“Republican leadership asked for it to be taken down. The Speaker and Majority Leader are focused on keeping Coloradans safe and reducing costs, not hanging portraits. If the GOP wants to spend time and money on which portrait of Trump hangs in the Capitol, then that’s up to them.”
Well, it’ll be interesting to see if artist Sarah Boardman is tasked with painting the new portrait for Trump’s liking, or if someone else will be brought in.
Trump assumed office on Jan. 20, becoming the oldest American president to begin a term at 78 years and 220 days of age. That record was held by predecessor Joe Biden, who was sworn in at 78 years and 61 days of age.
Trump is also just the second American president to serve two non-consecutive terms, joining Grover Cleveland.
Donald Trump Picks Another Public Feud

Much of Donald Trump’s time in office has been headlined by his public feuds (especially on social media) with other politicians and celebrities, including Taylor Swift, Robert De Niro, Meryl Streep, LeBron James, Alec Baldwin and George Clooney. Or, you know, the 2017 NBA champion Golden State Warriors and Super Bowl 52 winning Philadelphia Eagles.
As Boardman and Colorado state officials have been reminded, it doesn’t take much to irritate the current President of the United States.
