Donald Trump isn’t known for mincing his words and after a meeting with Prince William, he didn’t hold back.
The Prince of Wales and the then-president-elect met in Paris at the end of last year, with Trump revealing that talks between the UK and US went well.
The pair met after the re-opening of the Notre-Dame cathedral – which was damaged after a huge fire broke out in 2019, with it since being rebuilt.
Trump revealed that they discussed their families and the health of King Charles III amid his cancer treatment.
At the time, the King had pulled back on his work commitments, with William stepping up to take over.
The short meeting appears to have left a lasting impression as Trump spoke positively of the Prince of Wales.
Speaking to the New York Post, Trump revealed: “He looked really, very handsome last night. Some people look better in person. He looked great. He looked really nice, and I told him that.
“And I asked him about his wife and he said she’s doing well. I asked him about his father and his father is fighting very hard, and he loves his father and he loves his wife, so it was sad.”
He added: “We had a great talk for half an hour, a little more than half an hour. We had a great, great talk.”
Trump has previously opened up about meeting other royals, and was insistent the late Queen Elizabeth II was a big fan of him.
He previously said: “Many people have said I was her favourite president.”
