Jalen Hurts was among the Eagles who didn’t attend the White House on Monday to meet with President Trump, and one player, CJ Gardner-Johnson, fully explained his decision.
A few hours before the event, NBC News White House correspondent Yamiche Alcindor announced that Super Bowl MVP and quarterback Jalen Hurts, along with multiple unnamed players, would not attend.
After the ceremony ended late Monday afternoon, NBC Sports Philadelphia’s John Clark released a list of Eagles players who were not at the ceremony.
They included the following names:
- Jalen Hurts
- A.J. Brown
- DeVonta Smith
- Jalen Carter
- Jordan Davis
- Brandon Graham
- Nolan Smith
- Zack Baun
- Nakobe Dean
- CJ Gardner Johnson
- Darius Slay
- Quinyon Mitchell
When it came to Gardner-Johnson not being there, he had a good reason for not showing up.
He stated he did not want to wear that “tight a– f–king suit.”
Gardner-Johnson stated he didn’t want to be looked at weirdly since he would’ve been fixing the suit around his neck several times.
CJ Gardner-Johnson Traded To The Texans
Gardner-Johnson did not show up at the White House to celebrate the team’s accomplishment this week and certainly did not have to.
He is the Houston Texans’ newest defensive star after he was traded there this offseason.
The Eagles sent Gardner-Johnson to the Houston Texans in exchange for guard Kenyon Green, one year after signing the versatile safety to a three-year deal.
Gardner-Johnson was productive in his one year back in an Eagles uniform. He has 12 interceptions in 28 games in an Eagles uniform, allowing a 69.8 passer rating in coverage with 11 touchdowns.
