Chase Claypool and Dwayne Haskins were teammates on the Pittsburgh Steelers. They were extremely close.
It wasn’t shocking to see him cry his eyes out after finding out about his tragic death.
Claypool had one of the more heartbreaking posts in the wake of Dwayne Haskins’ death back in April 2022.
The former Steelers receiver was in South Florida training with Haskins and other Steelers when the accident occurred, and he posted an emotional video, sobbing, about the loss of his teammate.
Haskins was struck and killed by a dump truck while walking on a highway after his car ran out of gas.
On an appearance on the “I AM ATHLETE” podcast, Chase Claypool spoke openly about the situation. He stated at the time that he was struggling with the idea that he could have somehow prevented his teammate’s death.
“I feel like I failed him,” Claypool said on the podcast.
“I feel like I could have changed the outcome, and that’s why it was so heavy. I was close. I was a minute away from stopping it, essentially. From changing the outcome.”
