Merab Dvalishvili Alleges Umar Is Using Khabib Nurmagomedov’s Fame for Success

After Umar Nurmagomedov’s dominating win Over Cory Sandhagen in UFC Abu Dhabi, Merab Dvalishvili accused Umar of benefiting from having UFC Legend on his side, suggesting that’s why he was achieving more in less time.

“He has a push because we all know why. He’s Khabib’s cousin. He’s a good fighter. I have all the respect [for] him,” Dvalishvili said.

Merab feels disheartened, reflecting on how, despite his hard work, he wasn’t sure about getting a title fight until just two weeks ago. He acknowledged Umar as a good fighter but expressed skepticism about the ease with which Umar reached this level, saying, “It’s like cheating a little bit to get here.”

‘The Machine,’ who has fought 12 times in the UFC and defeated seven or eight ranked fighters, notes that Umar hasn’t faced any ranked opponents yet.

Overall, Khabib has achieved great success and continues to help his teammates reach new heights. Now, Umar is set to receive a title shot against the winner of Merab vs. Sean O’Malley. It will be exciting to see who Umar will face next.
