MAGA Reacts to Taylor Swift’s Engagement to Travis Kelce | NFL Sports

Some prominent MAGA voices were quick to respond after the news of Taylor Swift‘s engagement to Travis Kelce broke.

The Context

The couple made the announcement on Instagram on Tuesday, sharing a series of engagement photos with the caption, “Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married.”

One picture shows Kansas City Chiefs tight end Kelce, 35, on one knee as Swift, 35, grasps his face, with the couple surrounded by flowers in a lush garden. In another, Swift shows off her giant ring, which Newsweek has confirmed is an old mine brilliant cut from Kindred Lubeck.

What To Know

MAGA influencers were quick to share their thoughts on Swift’s and Kelce’s announcement, expressing largely positive sentiments.

“This is unironically an excellent thing. I hope many other single people follow their example,” Ben Shapiro, a conservative podcaster and co-founder of Daily Wire, wrote on X.

“I hope they have lots of kids and end up very happy!” Charlie Kirk, the founder of Turning Point USA, wrote on X. In a follow-up post, Kirk added: “Congratulations @taylorswift13. I can’t wait to go see a Taylor Kelce Concert!”

Collin Rugg, co-owner of the Trending Politics website, wrote on X: “I wish them a successful marriage.”

The End Wokeness X account, which has more than 3.8 million followers, wrote: “Don’t care if Taylor Swift’s engagement is a sham. If it boosts Western birth rates, then nothing else matters.”

“I think Taylor Swift getting married is a massive net-positive for society and a huge blow to the woke movement,” Matt Van Swol, who has over 280,000 followers on X, wrote. “Showing people who have spent a lifetime not growing up, now taking responsibility and commitment is great.”

President Donald Trump, who launched the MAGA movement, spoke favorably of the couple after a reporter asked him about the news during a Cabinet meeting on Tuesday.”I wish them a lot of luck. I think he’s a great player, I think he’s a great guy. I think that she’s a terrific person. So I wish them a lot of luck,” he said.

Trump’s Past Criticism of Taylor Swift

The president has previously been critical of Swift, particularly due to the pop star endorsing his former Democratic rivals President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris in 2020 and 2024, respectively.

“Has anyone noticed that, since I said ‘I HATE TAYLOR SWIFT,’ she’s no longer ‘HOT?'” the president wrote on Truth Social in May. The president was referring to a previous post in September 2024 when he wrote,”I HATE TAYLOR SWIFT.”

During his 2024 presidential campaign, Trump shared an AI-generated image of Swift endorsing his candidacy, later saying someone else had generated the images. Swift addressed the AI posts when she later endorsed Harris for president last year.

She said that it “Conjured up my fears around AI, and the dangers of spreading misinformation.” She also signed the post “Childless Cat Lady,” a reference to the comments made by now-Vice President JD Vance.

After her endorsement of Harris, Trump said: “I was not a Taylor Swift fan … But she’s a very liberal person. She seems to always endorse a Democrat. And she’ll probably pay a price for it in the marketplace.”

Timeline of Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s Relationship

Swift and Kelce have been together since the summer of 2023. Their romance began after Kelce revealed on his podcast that he had tried to give Swift a friendship bracelet with his phone number during her Eras Tour concert. Although he wasn’t able to at the time, the gesture eventually caught Swift’s attention, and the two began to connect privately.

On September 24, Swift attended one of Kelce’s Kansas City Chiefs games, sparking rumors of their relationship. But it wasn’t until mid-October that year, when the couple was caught kissing at a Saturday Night Live after-party, that their relationship went public, making them one of the most talked-about celebrity pairings of the year.
