Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s Engagement Announcement Dynamite Emoji Explained | NFL Sports

When Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce announced their engagement on Instagram, they used an unusual emoji to do it: 🧨 , the red stick of dynamite.

The couple, both 35, announced the news of their engagement on Instagram on Tuesday, Aug. 26. Swift wrote, “Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married 🧨,” alongside several photos from their floral-filled proposal.

And while the dynamite emoji might not seem like a traditional one to use for an engagement announcement, it holds special meaning for Taylor and Travis: as “TNT” pays homage to their initials and relationship.

Back in January 2024, Swift was spotted in a diamond “TNT” bracelet which, as PEOPLE earlier reported, was commissioned for her by Kelce himself.

In our exclusive interview, Lancaster, Pennsylvania-based Wove Made Inc. Jewelers described how they turned around the bespoke design in just three days.

“Since this was for him, we were all hands on deck,” Simone Kendle, CEO of Wove Made Inc., a company founded in 2022 by two former Army Rangers, told PEOPLE.

As Kendle explained, the collaboration began in December when Kelce approached the jewelers and asked them to create a personalized “TNT” bracelet for Swift. Right after creating the first one, he asked for another matching one for him.

The result, she explained, was an “elevated take” on the beaded friendship bracelets often wore to Swift concerns — including one worn by Kelce himself.

The pair first met in 2023, following Kelce’s public date proposal on his podcast, New Heights, when he revealed he had planned and failed to give Swift a friendship bracelet with his phone number on it while attending her Eras tour concert in Kansas city.

The Kansas City Chiefs tight end designed Swift’s new bling — her custom engagement ring — with the help of jewelry designer Kindred Lubeck of Artifex Fine Jewelry.

Swift showed off her new sparkler in a series of photos announcing the big news. Her dazzling ring is a massive Old Mine Brilliant Cut diamond, a rectangular-cut diamond with antique references.
