Former New England Patriots Star & Super Bowl Champion Arrested On Disturbing Charges, Mugshot Released [PHOTO] | NFL Sports

Veteran offensive lineman and two-time Super Bowl champion Shaq Mason was arrested in Franklin, Tennessee, and booked on domestic violence charges.

According to TMZ, police in Franklin arrested Shaq Mason early Wednesday morning during a traffic stop over allegations of domestic violence. The former New England Patriots standout has charged with aggravated assault, harassment, aggravated burglary and driving on a suspended license.

Further details of the alleged incident are unclear at this time.

Per TMZ, Shaq Mason was still behind bars as of this afternoon and had his bond set at $150,000. The Franklin Police Department posted the image of Mason’s mugshot on X/Twitter:

Mason was a fourth-round draft pick (131st overall) by the New England Patriots in 2015. He emerged as a valuable part of the offensive line for Tom Brady, helping the Pats to Super Bowl championships in the 2016 and 2018 seasons.

Shaq Mason’s NFL Career Could Be In Jeopardy

Like so many players from the Bill Belichick and Tom Brady-led dynasty in New England, Mason’s career regressed after the Patriots decided to move on. He was traded to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2022 and reunited with Brady, but the move did little to help the leaky offensive line.

The Houston Texans acquired Mason in a 2023 offseason trade with the Buccaneers, but his production didn’t improve. He finished with a 62.3 grade at Pro Football Focus, ranking 66th among all guards.

Mason also allowed eight sacks and committed three penalties, per PFF. The Texans opted to cut him in a cap-saving move and traded Pro Bowler Laremy Tunsil to the Washington Commanders as part of an offensive line overhaul.

Shaq Mason remains unsigned with Week 1 just eight days away, and his arrest on serious charges could ultimately spell the end of a career that has gone downhill since leaving New England.
