Handball gold medal game ends in boos at Olympics

The end of the men’s handball final between Germany and Denmark left many disappointed on the last day of the Paris Olympics on Sunday.

Both sides appeared to stop playing in the final minute as Denmark eased past Germany to secure gold in the final, 39-26.

Team Germany began passing the ball around while Denmark’s players stood around and didn’t put pressure on defense in the final minute of the contest, according to The Sun.

Coaches and other players started hugging and celebrating with time still on the clock.

Despite Denmark’s dominant lead, fans seemed upset by the lackluster ending and booed from their seats at Pierre Mauroy Stadium.

But it didn’t seem to hinder the Danes from embracing their gold medal victory.

They were seen tossing left back Mikkel Hansen in the air while celebrating on the court.

Demark went unbeaten in eight matches at the Paris Games after losing out on gold to France at the Tokyo Games in 2021.

Denmark’s men’s handball team also won gold at the 2016 Rio Olympics.

The 2024 Paris Games ended with the closing ceremony on Sunday.
