Dallas Cowboys Star Micah Parsons Reveals He’s “Taking A Break” From Football To Prepare For 2028 Olympics

Regarded as one of the NFL’S top edge rushers, Micah Parsons had a huge announcement to make this week.

The Dallas Cowboys star pass rusher stated he would be stepping away from football after the 2027 season to focus on this new goal. “After 2027, I’m going to take a break from football to prepare for the Olympics!” he declared on X, formerly Twitter.

“I need to find a way to get in the Olympics by 2028!” he said. “What events yall think I can do?? Need ideas!!”

Parsons is known for his exceptional athleticism and prowess on the football field, so losing a dynamic player like him would be huge.

When it comes to the Olympics, Micah Parsons has the option of representing Team USA in flag football. This will make its debut at the Los Angeles Games.

This inclusion of football makes things rather exciting for the Olympics in Los Angeles.

Given his skill set and competitive edge, the idea of him transitioning to the Olympics had fans reacting like crazy to actually seeing him out there to compete for a Gold medal.

Flag football is a non-contact version of football in which tackles are made by pulling off flags that all players wear on their hips.

Another possibility for Micah Parsons is him hinting at competing in track and field.

He might aim to be in the 100-meter dash.

Micah Parsons had a remarkable 4.36-second 40-yard dash time at the 2021 NFL Combine, but his speed back then would not be his speed four years from now, as he will be pushing 30 years old.

The Dallas Cowboys have a problem as Micah Parsons, Dak Prescott, and CeeDee Lamb want new contracts.

Lamb and Parsons have been huge success stories, having been drafted in the first round in back-to-back years.

Micah Parsons is looking for a deal to reset the defensive players’ market.

The 25-year-old Penn State product has more than 13 sacks in each of his three seasons.

However, his recent revelation about wanting to take a break from the league to focus on the Olympics could hamper what the team is willing to give him if he truly decides to put his health at risk to play for the country.
