Tom Brady is getting destroyed by NFL fans for a bizarre comment he made about kicking dogs during the Dallas Cowboys-Chicago Bears game on Sunday.
The seven-time Super Bowl champion and Kevin Burkhardt were assigned to Soldier Field to cover “America’s Game of the Week” for Fox Sports. Unhappy with the legend’s performance in the booth on Sunday, many NFL fans called for Fox Sports to fire Tom Brady from his broadcasting position.
Brady has received mixed reviews as an NFL analyst in the early phases of his career. Of course, it’s unfair to thoroughly criticize the 48-year-old, given the short sample size. He’s only in the second season of a 10-year, $375 million deal with Fox.
But NFL fans were especially critical of a bizarre comment Brady made during George Pickens’ sideline meltdown in the fourth quarter. The star wide receiver was frustrated after dropping a Dak Prescott pass that turned into a Tremaine Edmunds interception.
“Kick the dog, throw the helmet, whatever it takes,” Brady said on the live broadcast:
Fans called out Brady for the bizarre and cringeworthy comment.
“Tom Brady having to explain his joke about kicking the dog. Rough,” one fan wrote.
“Did Tom Brady just say he hits his dog when he’s upset?” asked a user.
“I still can’t believe it,” a fan commented.
“What a scumbag,” said another.
“Kick the dog,” Tom Brady? Hope you don’t have a pooch,” a user wrote.
“I hope Brady didn’t go home after bad losses and angrily throw the dog,” Skip Bayless added.
The Bears went on to win 31-14, giving rookie head coach Ben Johnson his first victory.
