Police Issue Major Update On ICE Shooting Suspect

A gunman opened fire at the Immigration and Customs Enforcement centre in Dallas, Texas, just yesterday morning (September 24), leaving one dead and two seriously wounded.

The gunman fired at the ICE facility and at a unmarked van from a nearby rooftop, law enforcement have reported, before dying from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Security Secretary Kristi Noem told CNN that the shooting appears to have been carried out by ‘someone who is very much against our ICE officers and the work that they were doing.’

Despite this, no law enforcement were injured or killed, instead it was three detainees.

The attack marked the fourth instance of violence or a threat at an ICE or Customs and Border Protection facility in Texas this year.

And police have now issued a major update on the suspect.

The shooter believed to be responsible for the incident was identified as 29-year-old Joshua Jahn, who was found dead at the scene.

The suspect had lived in a Dallas suburb and was charged a decade ago with delivering marijuana, according to court records.

The three detainees who were harmed in the attack, including one who has died, had been arrested for illegally being in the U.S., and were awaiting transfer to a longer-term facility.

Authorities have not named the victims.

A motive for the shooting has not yet been officially identified, though FBI Director Kash Patel said ‘an initial review of the evidence shows an idealogical motive behind this attack.’

Patel posted a photo on X (formerly Twitter) of unused ammunition recovered from the scene.

One casing had the phrase ‘ANTI-ICE’ on it, pointing towards the potential motive.

Security Secretary Noem added: “We know that there was bullet holes all over the building. It wasn’t just targeted at one specific area or through a window.”

She added that the shooter ‘was very much focused on hitting anyone that he could inside and making sure that they were victims of this attack.’

President Donald Trump has spoken out following the shooting, and has blamed the left for the fatal attack.

Taking to his social media platform TruthSocial, he said: “This violence is the result of the radical left democrats constantly demonizing law enforcement, calling for ICE to be demolished, and comparing ICE Officers to ‘Nazis.’”

FBI Director Patel added: “These despicable, politically motivated attacks against law enforcement are not a one-off.”
