Former Ohio State offensive lineman Bob Maggs has passed away unexpectedly at the age of 61, making it a really difficult period for the Buckeyes, given the passing of Nick Mangold.
Mangold, who was also a lineman for OSU, passed away on Saturday night due to complications from kidney disease, less than two weeks after asking for a donor while seeking a transplant that would save his life.
According to Eleven Warriors, Maggs, a two-time All-Big Ten call-up in the 80s, died a few days before Mangold.
Bob Maggs & Nick Mangold Leave Legacies Behind

Maggs, also a Parade All-American in high school, is reported to have passed on October 23. His son, Mason, is a walk-on quarterback at Ohio State.
At the height of his college career, the former OL helped the Buckeyes to 9-3 and 10-3 seasons and went on to work in sales after school.
Mangold, who represented the school decades later, also starred at the pro level, spending his entire 11-year career with the New York Jets.
He was a seven-time Pro Bowler and two-time First-Team All-Pro, as well as a fan favorite. His former coach, Rex Ryan, fought through tears while speaking about him during ESPN’s ‘Sunday NFL Countdown’ in Week 8.
The Ohio native, 41, had reached out to both the Jets and OSU support in a bid to secure a kidney, but it appears it was already too late.
Maggs, meanwhile, was known as the “Gentle Giant” due to his imposing frame but warm personality.
Their deaths have prompted an outpouring of prayers and support.
We at TPS offer our sincere condolences to their families, loved ones, and the Ohio State community.
