If you thought Jake Paul was going to go down with some sort of phantom punch in a fake bout against Anthony Joshua, think again.
The YouTuber-turned-boxer took on the former heavyweight champion in a highly-anticipated fight on Netflix Friday night. Paul managed to hold his own for a while, but eventually it became too much, and he was knocked out by the much-larger Joshua in the sixth round.
Joshua ended the bout by connecting with a clean right hand on Paul’s jaw, and that was it. Anthony Joshua broke Jake Paul’s jaw, and the 28-year-old American wisely decided to stay down for the 10-count.
After the final bell, Paul gave fans a glimpse of his broken jaw. It’s enough to make your stomach turn.
Many will continue to claim that Jake Paul’s fights are rigged and his “broken jaw” is fake. However, the video evidence seems to suggest otherwise.
Paul entered the fight as a clear underdog. It didn’t help that he had the “Drake Curse” lurking over him. Despite being at a clear disadvantage, he managed to make it to the sixth round against a legitimate boxing champion like Anthony Joshua.
Jake Paul’s boxing record drops to 12-2 in 14 bouts after this loss. His broken jaw will likely sideline him for a while, but it’ll be interesting to see who he decides to try and bounce back against.
