Former NFL Star’s Discharged from Hospital After ‘Miracle’ Recovery

Jordan Shipley leaves hospital after an unexpected recovery.

Former NFL player and Texas star Jordan Shipley has been released from the hospital after what doctors called a rare and remarkable recovery from a serious burn accident earlier this month.

Shipley suffered severe burns when a machine he operated caught fire. He managed to escape, but the flames caused serious injuries. Emergency crews rushed him to the hospital in critical but stable condition, according to his family.

After weeks of intensive treatment, Shipley walked out of the hospital this week. His wife, Sunny, shared the update on social media and called the moment hard to believe. “Because I know so many are praying, I wanted to let you know that we left the hospital. I still can’t believe it,” she wrote“We have a hard and long journey ahead but you can guarantee he and I will carry it with joy and praise.

Doctors and specialists expressed surprise at how quickly Shipley improved. Sunny said medical staff repeatedly told the family they had never seen someone arrive in his condition and leave so soon. “They said he is nothing short of a miracle,” she wrote.

Shipley is still dealing with daily pain and will need ongoing treatment. His family plans to stay near the hospital instead of going home. Doctors will continue regular dressing changes and closely monitor his recovery as he adjusts to being out of the hospital.

Sunny also thanked everyone for the support they have received. She said friends, family, and even strangers sent prayers, messages, and help during a very difficult time. “No amount of words will ever be enough to express my gratitude,” she wrote.

Aside from this sad incident, Shipley has had a great career. He played at the University of Texas from 2004 to 2009 under coach Mack Brown and became one of the team’s most dependable receivers. In 2008, he set a school record with 15 catches for 168 yards against Oklahoma State. In 2009, he earned All-American honors as Texas won the Big 12 and reached the national championship game. He also recorded back-to-back 1,000-yard seasons in 2008 and 2009.

The Cincinnati Bengals selected Shipley in the third round of the 2010 NFL Draft. He made an immediate impression with a 63-yard punt return in his first preseason game. Injuries later slowed his career, including a torn ACL and MCL. He also spent time with the Buccaneers and Jaguars before leaving the NFL.

Shipley and Sunny have been married for 15 years and have two sons. For now, their focus is his speedy recovery.
