Maple Leafs’ Craig Berube Shocks Everyone After Showing Up With A Nasty Head Scar And Black Eye Before Golden Knights Game [VIDEO]

Berube showed off a nasty scar when he spoke to the media ahead of the Maple Leafs’ clash against the Golden Knights.

Craig Berube did not need to say a word on Friday morning for people to notice something was off. When the Toronto Maple Leafs’ head coach arrived ahead of the game against Vegas, fans and media immediately focused on his very visible black eye and the baseball cap he was wearing.

Berube, known for his tough playing days, looked battered enough that some initially wondered if it had something to do with hockey. Cameras zoomed in as he spoke to reporters, and it was hard to miss, and even harder not to ask about.

Rather than brushing it off, Berube addressed it head-on. He explained that the injury was due to a freak accident in the gym. He then showed the injury beneath his cap, revealing a line of stitches across the top of his head.

Berube did not go into detail about what exactly happened and said it was a “bad accident.”

“It was stupid. It was just a bad accident; it’s all my fault. I am fine,” Berube said.

Despite the gruesome look, he confirmed he would be behind the bench as Toronto prepared to face the Golden Knights.

Once the game started, however, the focus shifted back to hockey and Mitch Marner, who returned to Toronto for the first time since the trade and was greeted with boos. Vegas came out strong and eventually completed a season sweep of the Toronto Maple Leafs with a 6-3 win.

Matthew Knies chipped in with two assists, while Anthony Stolarz stopped 25 shots in his first appearance since November 11. The Maple Leafs, now 24-18-9, have gone 1-3-2 over their last six games.

For the Golden Knights, Mark Stone led the way with two goals and an assist, while Jack Eichel added a goal and an assist. Ivan Barbashev also chipped in with two assists, and Adin Hill made 18 saves as Vegas snapped its two-game losing streak.
