This could get interesting.
Two golfers in the Washington D.C. area are suing United States President Donald Trump.
Trump is an avid golfer who owns several courses both in the U.S. and abroad. In the States, he operates major venues in Pennsylvania, Virginia, and Florida, each hosting professional tournaments and private members.
His international portfolio includes properties in Scotland and Ireland. Reports suggest he is actively seeking to add more courses to his collection, further cementing his presence in the world of golf.
Unfortunately for a pair of D.C. golfers, he’s understood to have his heart set on taking over several public courses in the area. This comes after the POTUS was caught up in controversy over one of his overseas courses.
“We’re going to make it a beautiful, world-class, U.S. Open-caliber course,” Trump said of his plans in January. “Ideally, we’re going to have major tournaments there and everything else. It’s going to bring a lot of business into Washington.”
Frequent Patrons Taking Donald Trump To Task Over D.C. Plans

Dave Roberts and Alex Dickson, who describe themselves as “frequent patrons” of East Potomac Golf Links, are going on the offense. According to the Washington Post, they have filed a lawsuit against the President and his administration.
The golfers have partnered with The DC Preservation League, a nonprofit organization advocating for the protection of historic sites.
“The lawsuit seeks to halt the project, vacate federal approvals and block any reassignment or termination of the existing lease, pending a full review,” the Post reports.
It adds:
The complaint alleges possible violations of the National Environmental Policy Act, the National Historic Preservation Act and the Administrative Procedure Act, along with the 1897 congressional act that created the park and called for it to be ‘forever held and used as a park for the recreation and pleasure of the people’.
White House spokesman Taylor Rodgers has since responded to the suit.
“As a private citizen, President Trump built some of the greatest golf courses in the world, and he is now extending his unmatched design skills and excellent eye for detail to D.C.’s public golf courses,” Rogers said. “The President and his extraordinary team will redevelop these decrepit golf courses in our nation’s capital to restore glamour and prestige.”
This could be something to keep an eye on.
