Travis Kelce teased his brother, Jason Kelce, after the retired NFL star unintentionally made a Taylor Swift pun on their podcast.
The siblings were discussing Travis’ upcoming Kansas City Chiefs game against the Cincinnati Bengals on “New Heights” Wednesday when Jason made the Swift slipup.
“There’s been bad blood between you two teams for four or five years now,” Jason, 36, said of the two franchises scheduled to face off Sunday at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City, Mo.
The Chiefs tight end, 34, then interrupted his brother to call out the accidental reference to his girlfriend’s 2014 song “Bad Blood.”
“OK, ‘Bad Blood.’ I hear you, ‘Bad Blood,” he said.
Jason laughed, telling his co-host he does not even “try and do it” and that the wordplay “just happens,” to which Travis replied, “It’s just in you now.”
“She does a good job at just using these very common phrases that people would use regardless,” Jason said, defending himself.
Travis playfully razzed his big bro, saying that he himself had “never heard” the phrase until Swift, 34, used it in her hit single.
“You’ve gotta be … bro … anyways,” Jason said in disbelief before not so subtly changing the subject back to football.
Travis clearly had his girlfriend on his brain, as he referenced Swift several times elsewhere in the episode.
When Jason read an ad for Wednesday’s 2024 MTV Video Music Awards, the “Chasing Kelce” alum chimed in to cheer on the pop star ahead of the show.
“Hopefully Taylor can walk away with a few!” Travis said of Swift, who is nominated for 12 awards this year.
“Hopefully, she can walk away with some Moonmen. Those are some of the cooler trophies,” he added.
Jason also showed his support for the “Lover” songstress, yelling, “Let’s go, Tay! Come on, Tay!”
Travis then took the opportunity to wish the other nominees “the best,” to which Jason joked, “Unless you’re up against Tay.”
Travis is unlikely to accompany Swift to this year’s VMAs at UBS Arena on Long Island, NY, as he has to prepare for Sunday’s game against the Bengals.
