Taylor Swift is on top of the world, last night picking up seven VMAs and cementing her status as the most decorated solo artist of all time.
But, as the old adage says, you don’t get to the top, without making some enemies along the way.
And the mega-star, who is on a break before the final leg of her billion dollar record breaking Eras Tour, has certainly had her fair share of beefs.
Those who have come up against the 14-time Grammy winner – who famously told Vogue ‘Karma is real’ – have seemed to have suffered from ‘Tayvoodoo’, the term her fans use for those who cross her.
Most recently, Dave Grohl sparked a row when he implied the singer doesn’t perform live – before he sensationally admitted to cheating on his wife.
Scooter Braun, who came up against Swift when her brought her masters has since retired and got divorced, after a series of his high-profile clients dumped him.
In October, a group of NY Giant fans booed the singer when an advert came on starring he before a game, they then lost 24-3.
Here, Femail looks at the stars who have suffered the consequences of messing with Taylor.
Dave Grohl shocked fans on Tuesday when he revealed that he’d fathered a secret love child while cheating on his wife of more than 20 years, Jordyn Blum.
While the news is devastating for many, some of Taylor Swift‘s fans have been rejoicing in the 55-year-old rocker’s downfall after he slammed Taylor in June.
While performing at London Stadium, Grohl took a swipe at Swift’s Eras tour by falsely suggesting that her band didn’t play live.
Following the news of Grohl’s infidelity, Swifties have flooded social media to gloat about the Everlong singer’s marital troubles – with many calling it ‘karma’.
‘Dave Grohl having his one sided beef with Taylor and then him having a child OUTSIDE OF HIS MARRIAGE. Karma is her boyfriend!’ one posted on X.
‘So Dave Grohl attacked Taylor Swift’s artistic integrity earlier this year for no reason and you’re only now surprised he has no respect for women,’ wrote another.
Another posted, ‘Dave Grohl was confirmed bad when he was an arse about Taylor Swift so it’s giving karma is the child born outside of your marriage isn’t it?’
The Foo Fighters frontman took a swipe at Swift in June, dubbing her Eras tour the ‘Errors’ Tour while quipping that his band ‘actually play live’.
While performing at the London Stadium, he referred to Swift while she was playing the same night on the other side of the capital in Wembley – to boos from some fans.
He addressed the crowd: ‘We were joking about the Taylor Swift tour earlier. I know that she’s on her “Errors” Tour.
‘I tell you man, you don’t want to suffer the wrath of Taylor Swift. So we like to call our tour the Errors Tour,’ he continued.
‘We’ve had more than a few eras, and more than a few f***ing errors as well. Just a couple.’
The rock legend clarified: ‘That’s because we actually play live. What?’
To great cheers, he continued: ‘Just saying. You guys like raw live rock ‘n’ roll music right? You came to the right f***ing place!’
On Tuesday, Grohl has admitted to cheating on his wife Jordyn Blum and fathering a secret baby girl.
The Foo Fighters singer made the shocking admission on a statement posted to Instagram.
The statement read: ‘I’ve recently become the father of a new baby daughter, born outside of my marriage. I plan to be a loving and supportive parent to her.
‘I love my wife and my children, and I am doing everything I can to regain their trust and earn their forgiveness. We’re grateful for your consideration toward all the children involved, as we move forward together.’
It all started in 2009, when 19-year-old Taylor was at the MTV Video Music Awards, accepting the Best Female Video award for You Belong with Me.
Suddenly, in the middle of her acceptance speech, Kanye jumped on the stage, grabbed the microphone out of her hands and bellowed: ‘Yo, Taylor, I’m really happy for you and I’mma let you finish, but Beyoncé had one of the best videos of all time. One of the best videos of all time!’
In the years following the speech – which saw President Barack Obama brand him a ‘jacka**’ Kanye apologised and revoked his apology several times.
In August 2015, it appeared the pair had made amends as Taylor poked fun at the feud, saying Kanye had ‘one of the best careers of all time’ at the 2015 VMAs after she presented him with the Video Vanguard Award.
It appeared the pair were getting on, and Kanye seemed to be joking by announcing ‘You know how many times they announced Taylor was going to give me the award ’cause it got them more ratings?’
However, Taylor later announced that his statement truly irked her, as he made out in public that it was for ratings, but in private, asked her to be on stage with him as it would ‘mean so much’.
Taylor told Rolling Stone in 2019: ‘I’m standing in the audience with my arm around his wife, and this chill ran through my body. I realised he is so two-faced.
‘That he wants to be nice to me behind the scenes, but then he wants to look cool, get up in front of everyone and talk s**t. And I was so upset.’
In September, Taylor accepted Kanye’s apology after he sends her a giant arrangement of flowers, with the singer jokingly offering to be his running mate in the next Presidential election.
Sharing a snap of the bouquet, she penned: ‘Awww Kanye sent me the coolest flowers!! #KanTay2020 #BFF’.
By February 2016, however, the pair hit an all time low when Kanye referenced the star in the lyrics of his hit, Famous.
Taylor took offence at the rapper’s lyric: ‘For all my South Side n****s that know me best / I feel like me and Taylor might still have sex / Why? I made that b***h famous’.
Kanye defended the line, claiming he had a conversation with Taylor about the lyrics in question.
In June, Kanye released music video for Famous, which depicts a naked Taylor lying in his bed next to him, with nude Kim on the other side.
Other nude celebrities who make an appearance in the fictional bedroom setting are Rihanna, Chris Brown, Donald Trump, Caitlyn Jenner, George W Bush, Anna Wintour, Ruby Rose, Ray J and Bill Cosby.
Taylor accused Kanye of lying about asking her permission to reference her in his lyrics, so Kim released a heavily-edited recording of the conversation in question.
‘I’m really glad you had the respect to call me that and tell me that as a friend, about the song. It’s just a really cool thing to do, and a really good show of friendship’ Taylor is heard saying.
Taylor then hit back, writing: ‘While I wanted to be supportive of Kanye on the phonecall, you cannot ‘approve’ a song you haven’t heard. Being falsely painted as a liar when I was never given the full story or played any part of the song is character assassination. I would very much like to be excluded from this narrative, one that I have never asked to be a part of, since 2009’.
After that Taylor said she felt publicly shamed and ‘cancelled,’ most of the 2017 album Reputation was aimed at her experience during the ordeal.
This year, she told Time Magazine it felt like a ‘career death’ and she was forced to move to a foreign country (the UK), and not go outside.
‘Make no mistake — my career was taken away from me,’ she said.
Discussing the aftermath and the brutal toll that it took on her wellbeing, Taylor told the outlet: ‘You have a fully manufactured frame job, in an illegally recorded phone call, which Kim Kardashian edited and then put out to say to everyone that I was a liar.’
‘That took me down psychologically to a place I’ve never been before. I moved to a foreign country. I didn’t leave a rental house for a year. I was afraid to get on phone calls.’
She explains ‘Some events took place to cause me to be p***ed off when [Kanye] called me a b***h. That was not just a singular event.
‘Basically, I got really sick of the dynamic between he and I’.
Since 2016, Taylor has continued to rise – while Kanye, once thought of as the greatest rapper of a generation, has seen his fall from grace continue.
Taylor ended Kanye’s streak of 11 number one albums, as his latest projectVultures 2 debuted in the number two spot – as it was bested by Swift’s The Tortured Poets Department.
West, whose career has dipped amid a torrent of antisemitic remarks since the fall of 2022, sold an estimated 107,000 equivalent album units in its first week, Billboard reported Sunday.
The record was West’s 13th to occupy one of the top two spots on the chart in his career.
While Swift continues to build on her plaudits and reputation, West’s career has tumbled in the six months since a December 1, 2022 appearance on Alex Jones’ show Infowars in which he lavished praise on Nazis and Adolf Hitler.
‘He didn’t kill six million Jews,’ West said on the program, in which he appeared alongside white supremacist Nick Fuentes. ‘That’s just factually incorrect. I’m not trying to be shocking.’
He continued: ‘I like Hitler. The Holocaust is not what happened … Hitler has a lot of redeeming qualities … every human being has something of value that they brought to the table, especially Hitler.’
The appearance came prior to West being banned from Twitter later that day for posting a picture of a swastika interlaced with a Star of David
The turbulent day capped off a two-month stretch in which West dominated the headlines after making a series of anti-Semitic remarks, leading to a number of companies to break ties with him.
The race-related controversies kicked off October 3, 2022 when he and and conservative commentator Candace Owens donned tops that read White Lives Matter during a Paris Fashion Week showcase for his Yeezy line.
West faced restrictions on his social media sites after he tweeted October 8: ‘I’m a bit sleepy tonight but when I wake up I’m going death con 3 On JEWISH PEOPLE … ‘
He continued: The funny thing is I actually can’t be Anti Semitic because black people are actually Jew also … you guys have toyed with me and tried to black ball anyone whoever opposes your agenda.’
The professional fallout to West’s repeated statements about anti-Semitism included Adidas cutting their ties with him October 25 over his conduct.
Foot Locker and Gap pledged to remove Yeezy from its shelves, while fashion mainstays including Vogue magazine and Balenciaga publicly distanced themselves from the rapper/fashion designer.
The talent agency CAA dropped West from its roster, while a documentary about West made by the studio MRC was shelved.
He was also slammed in 2018 for saying ‘slavery was a choice’ and backing Donald Trump.
Another notorious Taylor feud is with Scooter Braun – a music manager who famously worked with Justin Bieber, Ariana Grande and Carly-Rae Jepsen before his fall from grace.
While Taylor alleges Scooter has bullied her for years – the fight began in July 2019 when Scooter brought Taylor’s masters.
Taylor claims she tried to buy them herself from Scott Borchetta, who owned Big Machine Records, the label she signed to aged 15.
Swift condemned the business deal in a viral Tumblr post, calling it her ‘worst case scenario’ and claimed that she had faced ‘incessant, manipulative bullying’ from Braun for years .
On her Tumblr Swift drew a circle around Braun’s face in red writing: ‘This is Scooter Braun, bullying me on social media when I was at my lowest point. He’s about to own all the music I’ve ever made.’
Swift continued her post saying: ‘Or when his client, Kanye West, organized a revenge porn music video which strips my body naked.’
‘Now Scooter has stripped me of my life’s work, that I wasn’t given an opportunity to buy. Essentially, my musical legacy is about to lie in the hands of someone who tried to dismantle it,’ she added.
In April 2021, she began re-recording her albums — having since completed four out of six ‘Taylor’s Version’ releases — in an effort to claim the creative rights and regain control over the songs from the first 10 years of her career while she was signed with Big Machine Records.
In September 2022, Braun appeared on NPR’s The Limits podcast to share his ‘regret’ over the way the deal was handled, explaining he was under a non-disclosure
She explained she always wanted to own her own music, but entered the music world at the age of 15 and couldn’t fight for herself.
She signed with Big Machine Records and knew that when Borchetta sold the label, he’d be selling her legacy. But she never expected it to be sold to Braun’s company Ithaca Holdings LLC.
Big Machine Records owned her master recordings from her biggest selling album of the 2000s, Fearless, to her most recent, Reputation.
All but her first album ‘Taylor Swift’ (2006) were number one albums and all of them were multi-platinum award winning, with colossal profits going to Borchetta’s label.
‘This is my worst case scenario. This is what happens when you sign a deal at fifteen to someone for whom the term “loyalty” is clearly just a contractual concept. And when that man says “Music has value”, he means its value is beholden to men who had no part in creating it,’ she added.
‘Essentially, my musical legacy is about to lie in the hands of someone who tried to dismantle it,’ Swift said. ‘For years I asked, pleaded for a chance to own my work. Instead, I was given an opportunity to sign back up to Big Machine Records and “earn” one album back at a time, one for every new one I turned in.’
She explained she always wanted to own her own music, but entered the music world at the age of 15 and couldn’t fight for herself.
‘Any time Scott Borchetta has heard the words ‘Scooter Braun’ escape my lips, it was when I was either crying or trying not to. He knew what he was doing; they both did. Controlling a woman who didn’t want to be associated with them. In perpetuity. That means forever,’ she wrote.
The performer who ended her post saying ‘sad and grossed out.’
Last year, Braun, who has had a prolific two-decade career overseeing the likes of Ariana Grande and Justin Bieber, announced his retirement from music management – after a series of high profile clients dropped him.
Braun released a statement announcing the end of his ‘chapter’ as music manager – as he sets forth on his new role as a board member of Hybe and CEO of Hybe America.
However, Taylor fans thought the timing of the announcement suspicious, as it came just weeks after being dropped by Grande, Carly Rae Jepsen, and Demi Lovato.
Scooter, who shares three children with his ex-wife Yael Cohen, cited his kids as the primary reason he decided to leave the business.
In 2021, he split from his wife of seven years, Yael Cohen, with whom he shares three kids.
And this year, artists began to sever ties with the 42-year-old mogul.
Colombian singer J Bavin was the first higher profile artist to leave, announcing he’d split from Braun’s SB Management company in May in favour of Jay-Z’s Roc Nation Management.
Then on Monday, both Demi Lovato and Ariana Grande – who partnered with Braun aged just 20 years old and released all six of her albums while on his roster – announced they were leaving SB.
Lovato said the split was ‘amicable’ and was simply seeking ‘a new direction’, while Grande’s decision to leave remains unexplained, according to Billboard.
But the high profile departures have fuelled speculation surrounding Braun’s business dealings – and delighted fans of Taylor Swift.
Representatives for Lovato and Braun declined to comment to DailyMail.com.
Taylor Swift blasted out Blur frontman Damon Albarn in 2022 for ‘discrediting her writing’ after he claimed that she does not write her own music in an interview with the LA Times.
‘I was such a big fan of yours until I saw this,’ Swift tweeted. ‘I write all of my own songs. Your hot take is completely false and so damaging. You don’t have to like my songs but it’s really f***** up to try and discredit my writing. Wow.’
‘PS I wrote this tweet all by myself in case you were wondering,’ Swift, who is world-famous for her heartfelt and evocative lyrics, added.
Her response came after Albarn, stated the pop singer ‘doesn’t write her own songs’ and relies on the aid of co-writers during an LA Times interview.
After pop music critic Mikael Wood praised Swift’s songwriting abilities, Albarn aired his belief that ‘co-writing is very different to writing.’
‘I’m not hating on anybody, I’m just saying there’s a big difference between a songwriter and a songwriter who co-writes. Doesn’t mean that the outcome can’t be really great,’ he told the outlet.
Albarn – who has written all his own songs as a solo artist and for bands Blur and Gorillaz – later apologised, claiming his comment had been ‘taken out of context and used as clickbait.’
The British musician went on to praise Billie Eilish as a ‘really interesting songwriter’ and her brother Finneas O’Connell.
‘I’m more attracted to that than to Taylor Swift. It’s just darker — less endlessly upbeat,’ he said of the 20-year-old Bad Guy hitmaker.
He continued: ‘Way more minor and odd. I think she’s exceptional.’
He later claimed he was ‘cast into the social media abyss’ after receiving abuse from Taylor Swift‘s fans over his remarks about the star.
Damon addressed his the spat with pop star during a gig at the Walt Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles.
The musician told the crowd before performing Song 2 that journalist Mikael Wood had asked him to play the Blur hit ‘before he cast me into the social media abyss’ with his question regarding Taylor.
He added: ‘You can judge for yourself. I think I’m becoming old-fashioned.’
This yera, he slammed the crowd at Coachella, while fans branded the festival goers as ’embarrassing’ after their apathetic reaction during the band’s set.
The iconic Britpop band played a 13-song set at the California-based music festival, including 90s classics like Girls & Boys, Popscene and Song 2.
They also brought out the Torres Martinez Cahuilla Bird Singers, a group of tribal singers from the Mojave Desert, where Coachella is held.
However, the audience at their set was less than enthusiastic, with their apathy becoming apparent to the band onstage.
Lead singer Damon could be seen looking increasingly irritated as he attempted to engage with the crowd to no avail.
For their 1994 hit Girls & Boys, the musician tried to get everyone to sing along to the chorus multiple times, but it was radio silent.
Frustrated he declared that the band would not be returning to the festival, saying: ‘You’re never seeing us again, so you might as well f****** sing it’.
Clips of the toe-curling moment were soon circulated on social media, with many fans slamming the Coachella crowd as having the ‘worst vibes’ and declaring they ‘did not deserve to be graced by the presence of blur’.
They wrote: ‘this coachella people do NOT deserve this blur setlist you’re joking; lord please take away all my suffering and give it to the blur crowd at coachella; Why does everyone at Coachella lowkey want Blur dead; the crowd for blur at coachella was so embarassing damon im so sorry i wasn’t there’.
‘America, you don’t deserve Damon Albarn, you do not deserve Blur. I will burn you to the ground.; i should be at coachella watching blur and no doubt perform back to back and not these children… they don’t get it; Coachella you do not deserve to be graced by the presence of blur.’
American DJ Diplo has made numerous digs against Taylor over the years – which she has never responded to.
He has insisted that his comments have all been in jest, but accepts his sense of humour hasn’t gone down well.
Speaking to ES Magazine , in 2019, the DJ admitted that he’s well aware that his comments have made him look like an ‘a**hole’, so has enlisted a social media team to censor him.
He explained: ‘I’m a weird, humorous person, but my sense of humour wasn’t taken well. Then I thought, do I want to be known as the a**hole?
‘I wasn’t an a**hole, in my opinion, but I did use social media like it was a joke. Then it became very real.
‘What’s funny now is that I don’t even know my Twitter login. Someone else just Twitters for me.’
Diplo’s feud with the pop starlet began in 2014, after the DJ tweeted that ‘someone should make a Kickstarter to get Taylor Swift a booty’.
Diplo was dating Katy Perry – who had also fallen out with Taylor at the time – and many saw his comments as further proof that the two pop stars are sworn enemies.
The Welcome To The Party hitmaker appeared to make amends in 2015, however, when he posted an Instagram snap of himself and Taylor at the Grammys, captioned: ‘Then this happened @taylorswift vs taylor spliff #grammys2015,’
Feuding: Diplo’s feud with Taylor began in 2014 after he mocked her appearance. He was dating Taylor’s nemesis Katy Perry at the time, but the girls have since made up
Yet two years later, Diplo appeared to reignite the feud as he hit out at Taylor’s music in an interview with Rolling Stone magazine.
He said: ‘Music is in the hands of the kids. Streaming is literally what kids want to listen to over and over again.
‘They want to listen to [Post Malone’s] Rockstar and [Cardi B’s] Bodak Yellow. They don’t want to listen to, like, [Taylor’s] Look What You Made Me Do.’
He added: ‘That music doesn’t relate to them at all, I don’t think it ever did. They were only given that by radio and marketing budgets.
‘I’m impressed with Post Malone. I can relate to him more than Taylor Swift.’
He also admitted that coming for the star was the ‘worst mistake of his career’ telling GQ in 2015 the star has ‘an army worse than North Korea’.
‘All I know is don’t ever get into a feud with Taylor Swift. She has like 50 million people that will die for her.
‘You can’t step into that arena. That was something I was never prepared for … one of the biggest mistakes of my career was definitely f***ing with her.
Diplo was dating Katy Perry at the time, and many saw his comments as further proof that the two pop stars were sworn enemies.
Taylor didn’t respond to the tweet, but her pop star friend Lorde did, saying: ‘Should we do something about your tiny penis while we’re at it hm. (sic)’
