Jenn Tran credited Taylor Swift for helping her get through the ups and downs of the “Bachelorette” — and her subsequent split from Devin Strader.
During Tuesday’s Dedication Night on “Dancing With the Stars,” the reality TV star and her pro partner, Sasha Farber, performed a foxtrot to Swift’s song “The Archer” and dedicated it to the pop star. She explained why it felt like a full-circle moment while exclusively speaking to Page Six after the show.
“[It felt] so amazing and honestly it goes beyond this night,” she told us in the ballroom. “The whole week listening to the song, and dancing to it, and being able to exude that energy. I’m truly living my dreams by being here and dancing to Taylor Swift.”
Tran said that getting to dance to one of Swift’s songs “really meant a lot” to her after spending so many years relating to her music on a personal level.
“Taylor is a lyrical genius. To be able to perfectly portray an emotion that somebody else is feeling all the way across the world is such a gift,” she gushed. “I really felt a lot less alone while listening to her songs growing up and I hope that in my dance tonight I was able to make other people feel less alone too.”
Specifically, Tran told Page Six that Swift’s song “I Can Do It With a Broken Heart” was a “huge” help in getting over her most recent heartbreak.
“I was listening to that over and over for the past couple of months. I think oftentimes people are afraid of showing emotion. They are afraid of being like, ‘I’m broken,’” she explained.
“But you can be broken and also do things while you’re broken. You can also empower yourself,” she continued, “and I think in being able to put one foot in front of the other and keep going, that’s what pulls you out of those places.”
If given the opportunity to ever get a message through to Swift, Tran told Page Six that she would thank the pop star for “genuinely being a kind-hearted person” and always lifting her spirits.
The reality TV star exclusively teased her “emotional” routine to Page Six last week, telling us that she was “over the f–king moon” about getting the chance to dance to Swift’s song.
“This is going to be the best night of my life, the best week of my life, just like dancing to this song over and over,” she raved.
Tran, who called herself the “biggest friggin’ Swiftie ever,” joked that she was probably “gonna cry.”
“It’s a very personal story and I think a lot of people will relate to it,” she teased.
