A female fan halted the Pittsburgh Steelers-New York Jets game after she sprinted onto the field waving a sign supporting Donald Trump as the former president watched from the VIP box.
The female fan, who has not yet been identified, invaded the field at Pittsburgh’s Acrisure Stadium during Sunday’s game while holding a sign that read, “Trump, secure border. Kamala open border.”
The woman received loud cheers from the Pittsburgh crowd, but the interruption in gameplay did not make it to NBC’s broadcast of the game.
She made it as far as the 40-yard line before she was grabbed by security and escorted out of the stadium.
Trump was in the VIP box at the game, watching as the Steelers trounced the Jets 37-15. He arrived in the middle of the first quarter.
He did not acknowledge the fan’s field invasion, but waved to football fans from the suite as the crowd cheered, according to social media footage posted by a Trump campaign staffer.
In the clip, Trump could be seen standing in the suite, pumping his fist as the crowd chanted “U-S-A, U-S-A!”
“President @realDonaldTrump arrives at Acrisure Stadium to chants of U-S-A,” Margo Martin, the Trump campaign’s deputy communications director, wrote alongside the video she posted to X.
Pennsylvania is a critical swing state for Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris in their race to the required 270 electoral votes.
The game was a welcome break for Trump, who was visiting Pittsburgh as his latest stop on the campaign trail.
“Thank you to the Steelers fans for the great reception tonight,” Trump wrote on Truth Social following the game. “November 5th will be the most important in the history of our Country! MAGA 2024!!!”
A Steelers spokesperson later clarified that Trump was a guest of a suite holder and not the team.
