It’s the power of the dad bod, says Patrick Mahomes.
The Chiefs quarterback powerfully ran for a touchdown on Sunday in Kansas City’s win over the 49ers, culminating with Mahomes trucking safety Malik Mustapha at the goal line and knocking him to the ground.
The powerful move certainly seemed to surprise some people who had been watching the game, and Mahomes himself had a bit of fun when talking about it on Thursday.
“I actually was not trying to lower my shoulder,” Mahomes said, according to Pro Football Talk. “I was trying to absorb the hit, I knew I was going to be right there in the end zone, and my dad bod, man, I just had enough weight on me where he went down. It wasn’t like I was trying to seek out contact, I was trying to absorb it and get in the end zone, and it just ended up looking good for me.”
Mahomes has poked fun at himself and his perceived dad bod in the past, including in an interview with Time in April.
He told the outlet that he does “definitely have the dad bod a little bit” while touting the benefits of having a little extra meat on the bone.
