VIDEO: Seattle Seahawks Rookie Byron Murphy II Was Tripping Out After His Teammates Handed Him A Massive Bill For Expensive Team Dinner

The Seattle Seahawks pulled off a clever prank on rookie defensive tackle Byron Murphy II at a recent team dinner, but his reaction was even better.

It’s a popular tradition for NFL players to treat their teammates to a lucrative and pricy team dinner, and Byron Murphy II was more than happy to participate with his fellow Seattle Seahawks.

In a new video that has gone viral on social media, Murphy II was hit with a pricy dinner tab that “only” cost $38,000. However, the Seahawks and restaurant staff tricked Murphy II into believing that the bill was more than quadruple that: A whopping $155,000.

Here’s the video of Byron Murphy II’s priceless reaction to the bill. (WARNING: VIDEO CONTAINS LANGUAGE THAT IS NSFW):

After he was selected 16th overall in the 2024 NFL Draft, Murphy II and the Seahawks agreed to a four-year rookie deal worth $16.083 million. Roughly a quarter of that ($4.2 million) comes in base salary, with $8.516 million in prorated signing bonuses.

The Texas product has suited up in 13 of Seattle’s 16 regular season games thus far, making nine starts. Murphy II has half a sack, 36 combined tackles, and two tackles for a loss.

Byron Murphy II Wraps Up Rookie Season On Sunday

Murphy II has had an inconsistent rookie year in Seattle, to say the very least. Pro Football Focus has him graded at 58.8 on the year, with his pass rush grade (64.6) topping a disappointing run defense grade (54.8).

But of course, it’s never fair to judge a rookie after just one season. The Seahawks defense was a disappointment in the first half under first-year head coach Mike Macdonald before eventually finding its groove in the second half.

Byron Murphy II and the Seahawks will look to conclude the season on a high note when they visit the Los Angeles Rams at SoFi Stadium on Sunday.
