Chiefs Fake Super Bowl Surprise Rumor Unfair To Rashee Rice

We’re not sure how this bogus rumor got started. But we’re hear to shut it down.

The No. 1 seed Kansas City Chiefs will be back on the field on Saturday for this year’s playoff debut against the No. 4 seed Houston Texans. The goal will be a third straight Super Bowl.

Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs offense will need to get value out of everybody in that huddle, with rookie receiver Xavier Worthy being a key name in our eyes. (More on him later.)

A weapon Mahomes will not have at his disposal? Receiver Rashee Rice, who has been out since Sept. 29 after sustaining a serious knee injury in Week 4.

The math on his recovery? The projection from coach Andy Reid at the time was about nine months.

And so Rice, the emerging 24-year-old star, likely set his sights on being ready for work in the spring … not on the idea that could return for the Super Bowl on Feb. 9.

Because … he can’t, right?

Rice this week posted a video on social media that certainly creates a positive impression of his rehabbing. Based on what we see?

Rice, who had surgery to repair his injured LCL and hamstring tendon on Oct. 8, is doing all the right things to be ready for 2025.

But we mean the 2025 season. Not February 2025.

Internet speculation can be fun. But it can also be fake and misleading. … and in a way, this does Rice a disservice by creating an unrealistic expectation.

The Chiefs are planning to get a big boost from the rookie Worthy, who Reid says is learning at a fast pace as Rice once did.

Next up for Rice? Another positive pace back on the field – when the time is right, which isn’t up to internet gossip.
