Having been in the NFL for over a decade, Kansas City Chiefs star Travis Kelce is no stranger to criticism.
But this is the first time he’s been in such a high-profile relationship as Taylor Swift entered his life late last year. With Kelce seen traveling with Swift across the country to be with her at her concerts this offseason, Travis got off to a slow start in 2024.
Kelce didn’t surpass 34 receiving yards in his first three games, which led some to question whether Travis was fully bought into football, with his new and exciting relationship with Swift perhaps taking precedence.
But on the Stephen A. Smith Show, Kelce detailed how he worked through all the criticism he dealt with earlier in the year.
“People are saying things [and] you’ve got to be able to reflect and look at yourself and see, ‘Why are they saying these things?’ I was still playing at a high level knowing all that,” Kelce said. “We were winning football games, which is all I ever care about and, on top of that, this building knew how hard I worked and how much focus I have on football throughout the year.”
There’s no denying that Kelce didn’t have his best season in 2024, as he had his lowest yards total since his rookie season. But is that due to his relationship with Swift? We don’t think so.
Kelce has had great games this year, posting outings of 89, 100, 90, 62, 68, and 84 yards, so the talent is still there.
But for some, given that Travis hasn’t hit the high standards we have come to know, some are still putting the blame on Kelce’s attention not being on football.
Despite Travis and others knowing that not to be true.
