WNBA superstar Caitlin Clark has opened up on sharing a VIP suite with Taylor Swift to watch the Kansas City Chiefs.
The Indiana Fever guard made a star-studded appearance at Arrowhead earlier this month when the Chiefs beat the Houston Texans in the NFL Divisional round.
The basketball sensation shocked fans when she was captured wildly celebrating with pop sensation Swift, the girlfriend of Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce.
Now, Clark, a Chiefs superfan, has revealed was the songstress is really like as she lifted the lid on her gameday experience.
‘I’m a huge Chiefs fan and Taylor is a huge Chiefs fan,’ the 23-year-old said on The Swarmcast Podcast. ‘Taylor is very sweet and very kind and it’s a good reminder that people in our position are very normal. We enjoy watching sports and hanging out with our friends. It puts a great perspective of life.’
Clark, who is also a proud Swiftie, admitted to feeling a little star-struck by the 14-time Grammy Award winner but insisted that Swift’s love for Chiefs Kingdom is genuine.
‘Taylor is probably the most famous person in the world right now with what she has been able to do over the course of he last couple of years,’ Clark continued. ‘Obviously her tour has been tremendous but the way she has been able to unite people I think has been the most powerful thing.
‘It’s just cute to see how excited she is for the Chiefs and getting to share that I was like. “oh my god she loves this, she loves the Chiefs as much as me, this is incredible.”
‘We had so much fun and honestly it was the perfect game. The Chiefs won, it was close at halftime, Travis scores a huge touchdown for the Chiefs, we ended up winning. There was nothing crazy that happened and we felt confident as it got to the end. It ended up being a perfect game.
‘I was a little nervous because the last time I Went to Arrowhead we lost – I was like I don’t want to be a bad luck charm but it’s all good, we figured it out and I am allowed back.’
The Chiefs secured a 23-14 win over the Texans to kickstart their bid for an unprecedented Super Bowl three-peat.
With just a point between the teams at the start of the fourth quarter, the 35-year-old Kelce reeled in a Patrick Mahomes pass to score a touchdown with the game on a knife-edge.
Swift erupted with joy in the VIP suite, leaping to her feet and hugging a visibly stunned Clark. It was the key moment of the game, giving the Chiefs an eight-point lead.
Overall, it was a brilliant display from Kelce. In the first quarter he signaled his return to his finest form by recording a vital 49-yard gain that sent Arrowhead Stadium – and Swift and Clark – wild.
The singer and the WNBA star were filmed hugging and high-fiving in celebration in their suite and while it was a tense game at times in Kansas City, Kelce made sure it was one that ended in celebration for his star-studded fans.
However, Clark was unable to make a return to Arrowhead over the weekend as the Chiefs narrowly beat the Buffalo Bills to clinch the AFC Championship and punch their ticket to a third consecutive Super Bowl.
With the 32-29 win, the Chiefs became the fourth team in NFL history to reach three straight Super Bowls.
They join the 1971-1973 Miami Dolphins, the 1990-1993 Buffalo Bills (who made it four times in a row), and the 2016-2018 New England Patriots.
Now, they have the chance to become the first team in the history of the NFL to win three consecutive Super Bowl titles.
But NFC champions Jalen Hurts and the Philadelphia Eagles – the former team of Kelce’s brother Jason – stand in their way in a rematch of Super Bowl LVII.
