Five-time Masters winner Tiger Woods has made his first public appearance since the death of his mother, and he made quite the statement with who was by his side at the Genesis Invitational on Sunday.
Woods graced the Genesis Invitational on Sunday alongside Kai Trump, the 17-year-old granddaughter of United States President Donald Trump.
Kai is an aspiring golfer and recently signed an endorsement deal with TaylorMade, one of the sport’s biggest brands.
For Woods, he was forced to pull out of the tournament at Torrey Pines after his mom, Kultida, passed away aged 80 earlier this month.
He still arrived at the California venue wearing his ‘Sun Day Red’ brand.
The brand launched last year after the golfer’s long-term partnership with Nike came to an end. He would then link up with TaylorMade – the company endorsing Kai – to create the brand.
Here is how fans reacted to Tiger Woods showing up to the Genesis Invitational with the 17-year-old.
“That’s not weird or anything. Nope,” one fan said.
“Tiger drank the kool aid apparently,” another fan added.
“Interesting. I believe Tiger played with the president last week,” a third fan stated.
“Now you know why she plays golf so well. Tiger is the teacher,” a fourth fan added.
One final fan added: “I hate it when people pick on young people. And I’m pleased for her that she now has some of the best mentors in the world. As she demonstrated at the Republican National Convention, she’s proud of her grandfather and can handle vicious criticisms, just like him.”
Tiger Woods Opens Up About Mother’s Death

Tiger Woods plans to tee up for the first time since his mother’s death when TGL resumes its season next week in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida.
Following the passing of Woods’ mother, Kultida, Woods withdrew from the Genesis Invitational, which he hosts.
Woods released a statement following his mother’s passing on Feb. 4, but he also spoke on the telecast this past weekend.
“Tough process to go through, but I’ve had amazing family support,” Woods said. “All the players have reached out that were playing here this week. The amount of texts and emails and nice messages of support I got has really helped and has really meant a lot to me.”
