A heartbreaking video shows the devastating hotel fire that killed Turkish Olympic skier Berkin Usta and his father. Flames engulfed the Kervansaray Hotel in Uludağ, Bursa, sending guests into panic. Reports confirm that the fire killed two people and injured twelve others.
Hotel Had Earlier Ignored Safety Violations

“We identified deficiencies and shared them with the relevant institutions,” Bozbey said. “Officials reported that the hotel was closed. Investigators are now determining why twelve people were inside. If this is negligence, it must be revealed.”
Despite these warnings, the hotel remained occupied when the fire broke out. Authorities are now investigating whether the hotel addressed its safety issues.
Usta, who represented Turkey in Alpine skiing at the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics, posted a fireplace photo on Instagram just hours before the fire. The fireplace matched the one in the hotel’s restaurant and bar, adding to the tragic circumstances surrounding his death.
The International Olympic Committee expressed condolences, with President Thomas Bach stating, “Berkin lived his Olympic dream by competing at the Olympic Winter Games Beijing 2022. Our thoughts are with their family and friends.”
The tragedy has shaken the sporting community as fans and fellow athletes mourn the loss of a promising young Olympian. Investigations into the fire’s cause and the hotel’s negligence continue as authorities seek answers and justice for the victims.
