It looks like Travis Kelce might be forced into retirement whether he likes it or not.
The Chiefs’ tight end has had a contentious January. Earlier this month, he found himself at the center of an unexpected social media storm because of Taylor Swift. It came as a result of private text messages that emerged in newly unsealed legal documents. The texts were connected to Blake Lively’s ongoing legal fight with Justin Baldoni.
While he deals with that, he is also dealing with the status of his career. Kelce’s contract expired when the season ended, making the three-time Super Bowl champion officially unsigned. “I am officially jobless, Jason,” Kelce said on his New Heights podcast, which he hosts with his brother Jason. Now, it appears that Travis Kelce will be replaced with another standout player.
Baltimore Ravens TE Isaiah Likely Could Be Looking To Replace Travis Kelce
Isaiah Likely already has a history with the Kansas City Chiefs fan base. During the 2024 season, he was caught on camera screaming “F–k you b–tch” to a heckling Chiefs fan as he walked to the visitor’s locker room.
From this past season, he signaled that he wanted out of his own team. The Baltimore Ravens tight end was once again caught yelling something on camera. He said, “We a-s as f-ck,” following a loss on Sunday Night Football. Now, Likely has been caught on social media.
Patrick Mahomes posted himself and a clock emoji on Instagram this week. Likely jumped on that post and actually liked it. For two rival teams, that is not something you should be doing. Social media was sure he was looking to replace Travis Kelce.
Whether a trade matriculates depends solely on when the team expects Mahomes back from his ACL injury. The Kansas City Chiefs are moving in a new direction after a disappointing 2025 campaign. Eric Bieniemy is expected to return to the franchise as the club’s offensive coordinator.
Tight end Travis Kelce said on the latest episode of his New Heights podcast that he’s excited about the reunion. Many saw that as a sign that he might be coming back. We’ll just have to wait and see.
