A significant update has emerged on the case of Illinois man Aaron Brown, who was arrested in Aug. 2024 for threatening to shoot Kansas City Chiefs stars Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce at a Morgan Wallen concert.
Morgan Wallen performed a show at Arrowhead Stadium, the Chiefs’ home field, on Aug. 2. Before the event, folks discovered a disturbing X/Twitter post from Aaron Brown, who threatened to shoot Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce if they appeared at the concert.
Authorities subsequently charged Brown with a Class E felony of making a terrorist threat in the second degree. Now, his lawyer is looking to put an end to the legal matter.
Per Blair Kerkhoff of The Kansas City Star, Brown’s attorney is trying to dismiss the charges, citing a violation of free speech:
“Aaron P. Brown of Winchester, Illinois, said through his attorney in the motion to dismiss that he didn’t make “real threats” and that charges violated his free speech and due process of the law.”
Brown was 23 at the time he made the disturbing threats against Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce, who attended the concert with teammate Chris Jones. Per Kerkhoff, Brown called it “a stupid, stupid, stupid mistake.”
Patrick Mahomes & Chiefs Enter 2026 Offseason With Plenty Of Questions

Kansas City’s nightmare 2025 season hit a new low when Mahomes suffered a season-ending ACL tear in a Dec. 14 home game against the Los Angeles Chargers. They finished a woeful 6-11, the franchise’s first losing season since 2012.
It also marked the first year that Kansas City missed the postseason since 2014, Andy Reid’s second year with the club. They had made the AFC Championship Game in seven consecutive years under Mahomes’ guidance from 2018 to 2024.
The Chiefs have plenty of work to do this offseason. The first is learning how to replace Kelce if the legendary tight end retires. The wide receiver and running back rooms need upgrades, too.
Kansas City hasn’t had to worry about making drastic roster changes for much of the Mahomes-Reid era. But there’s a lot to be done if they’re to re-emerge as a contender next year.
