Alicia Schmidt is turning heads both on and off the track.
The German track and field star, who has long been dubbed the “world’s sexiest athlete” by her fans and websites, is set to compete in the mixed 4×400 meter relay at the Paris Games.
The 25-year-old will make her Olympic debut on the track at The Stade de France, after qualifying at the World Athletics Relays in the Bahamas in May.
Schmidt has a massive social-media following
The smokeshow, who boasts over seven million followers between her Instagram and TikTok pages, shared a message on Instagram, where she described the opportunity to compete in Paris as her “biggest dream” coming true.
“My biggest dream came true! In just one month, I will be in Paris, creating memories that will last a lifetime. This thought has been my motivation every single day for several years now, reminding me of why it is important to never give up on my goals and to put in the work,” she wrote.
“No matter how big your dreams are, if you stay committed and believe in yourself, good things will come your way.”
Schmidt posted a video on TikTok capturing her reaction to the news, and her emotional response went viral, receiving over two million views.
“When you get the call that you’ve made the Olympic team,” the text read over the video.
She qualified for the 2020 Tokyo games
Schmidt qualified for the pandemic-delayed 2020 Tokyo Games and traveled with the team, however she was not chosen to race and announced that she would be taking a “break” from the track, opening up about struggles with COVID-19 and injuries during the 2021 season.
“It was not an easy year with my Covid Infection and torn ligaments but nevertheless, I know what I am capable of and I‘m hungry for more,” Schmidt wrote on Instagram in August 2021.
“Now, I’m going to take a break and I’m looking forward to coming back feeling fresh and ready to train hard again.”
In 2017, Schmidt and her German squad snagged a silver medal at the European Athletics U20 Championships in the 4x400m relay.
According to World Athletics, she currently ranks 89th in the women’s 400-meter dash.
She’s 5’9″ and is a brand ambassador
Adding to her impressive resume, the track star, who stands at 5’9, is an ambassador for Hugo Boss among several other brands.
She was also previously a fitness coach at Borussia Dortmund, a German professional soccer club.
Schmidt recently opened up to Women’s Health about her mindset entering her sport’s biggest stage.
“If I go into a competition and I’m not nervous, it won’t go well,” she said. “I remind myself that I did everything I could in preparation to be in top shape on the day. And if it doesn’t work out, so be it, because I couldn’t have done anything better. Sooner or later the time will come when it will pay off. That’s why I deal with pressure in a positive way.
“It doesn’t work without nervousness, it’s part of it,” Schmidt replied when asked, “Aren’t you nervous anymore?”
