FOX Under Fire For How They Handled Bo Nix’s Season-Ending Broken Ankle

Fans slam FOX for missing Bo Nix injury incident.

FOX is receiving enough hate from Saturday night after delaying major injury news about Broncos quarterback Bo Nix during its NFC broadcast.

Nix broke his right ankle late in Denver’s 33-30 overtime win over the Bills in the AFC Divisional Round. Coach Sean Payton confirmed after the game that Nix will miss the rest of the season.

Fans watching the 49ers vs. Seahawks game on FOX waited a long time to hear the update. The network did not show a news update or cut to the studio. Instead, it aired highlights and went to a commercial break. The injury was only mentioned later during halftime.

By that point, many viewers already knew. Phone alerts and social media spread the news quickly. The delay frustrated fans and sparked criticism online.

Nix was hurt while scrambling late in overtime to help set up the game-winning field goal. Wil Lutz made the kick to seal the win. Denver advanced, but the win came at a high cost.

Fans Rip FOX For Slow Injury Update

Bo Nix

Fans wasted no time calling out the network.

“How has FOX not run the Bo Nix news on their NFC broadcast through either an on-screen crawl or cut to their studio? Clearly, the biggest NFL news at the moment,” one fan wrote.

Another fan blasted the timing. “The fact that @NFLonFOX continued tease Bo Nix’s injury even though EVERY SINGLE PERSON had gotten the notification on their phone twenty minutes ago is ABSURD.”

A third viewer focused on the long wait. “It took until 10pm ET for the @NFLonFOX crew to share the Bo Nix news. That’s insane.”

Others questioned the show’s priorities. “Am I crazy or should Fox Halftime have led with Nix injury,” one user asked.

Although now rumors are coming up that Nix is faking his injury. Still, he just finished the best season of his career. The second-year quarterback out of Oregon had a breakout year. He threw for 3,931 yards with 25 touchdowns and 11 interceptions. Moreover, he completed 63.4 percent of his passes and also ran for 356 yards and scored five rushing touchdowns. Denver earned the No. 1 seed behind his play.

In Saturday’s win, Nix again delivered. He completed 26 of 46 passes for 279 yards and three touchdowns. He also led the team in rushing with 29 yards.

With Nix sidelined, Denver will now be headed to Jarrett Stidham. He has made four career starts and owns a 1-3 record.

The Broncos will face the winner of Sunday’s Texans vs. Patriots game in the AFC Championship. Kickoff is set for 3 p.m. ET on January 25 on CBS.

Fox has not responded to the matter but fans still want answers.
