Carolina Panthers wide receiver Xavier Legette and Cleveland Browns safety Rayshawn Jenkins were ejected early in Friday’s preseason opener after a little skirmish quickly escalated into a heated fight.
Just minutes into the first preseason game of 2025 for both clubs, officials ejected Xavier Legette and Rayshawn Jenkins for throwing down. It started when Legette started throwing punches at Jenkins, who had a hold on the second-year receiver.
The two continued to exchange haymakers while Legette fell to the ground. He then seemingly tried to tackle Jenkins by the legs, and the Browns safety retaliated by ripping his helmet right off:
Xavier Legette later took to X/Twitter to apologize to Carolina fans for his actions:
The 31-year-old Jenkins signed with the Browns in free agency after a one-year stint with the Seattle Seahawks. Legette was drafted 32nd overall by the Panthers last year, with GM Dan Morgan moving up one spot via the Buffalo Bills to select the South Carolina receiver.
