Crowds were up for a wrestling card in Los Angeles, expecting the usual chaos that comes along. But what they got instead was something that went way beyond the script and unusual. Raja Jackson, son of UFC great Quinton “Rampage” Jackson, raged up the ring on August 23 and left wrestler Stuart Smith, also known as Syko Stu, lying down and rushed to the hospital.
Clips from the event quickly spread online. Many had already seen what happened in the ring, but a new backstage video now reveals exactly what was the reason behind Raja’s anger. The footage shows Smith striking Raja on the head with a can outside the venue before his scheduled match. That moment, caught on camera, now gives the reason why the unscripted violence spiraled the way it did.
From there, things escalated fast. Raja lifted Smith off his feet, slammed him down, and followed with more than 20 unanswered punches. Fans screamed as the punches kept coming, and wrestlers had to pull him away. One reporter described it bluntly as “a work gone wrong.”
Rampage Jackson Responds To The Fallout
The conversation didn’t end when the punches stopped. Kick, the streaming platform hosting the event, banned Raja soon after. Online, some fans defended him for reacting to Smith’s hit, while others argued he took things too far.
“It was bad judgment, and I don’t condone my son’s actions,” Rampage wrote, adding that his priority was both Raja’s health and Smith’s recovery.
Smith, who wrestles as Syko Stu, is now recovering in the hospital. He even issued an apology of his own, saying he thought Raja was another wrestler when he struck him with the can outside. Raja appeared to accept the apology at the time, but emotions clearly carried into the ring.
For now, fans wait to see if Raja faces further fallout. What’s certain is that the new video adds weight to the ongoing conversation.
