The 31-year-old Turning Point USA founder was shot while speaking in front of thousands of US citizens about right-wing politics, and now, Donald Trump and JD Vance are expected to honour him by travelling to the MAGA supporter’s public farewell.
Doors will open at 8am local time (that’s 4pm BST), with the service itself due to commence three hours later.
However, an exhaustive list of banned materials has been published ahead of the heavily-guarded event, and this includes: laptops, video cameras, balloons, aerosols, fireworks, posters/signage, bicycles, chewing tobacco, and alcohol.
If you were to rock up to the stadium with any of these in your possession, prepare to get turned away.
Most importantly, security staff will refuse anybody carrying a bag, too.
“It has been challenging, we can’t deny that,” officer M. Mendez from the Glendale Police Department told The US Sun of organising the memorial.
“We’re prepared. We’re confident that we will be able to take care of any matters that arise and keep the public safe, all the attendees, and anyone that is in the area.”
Mendez went on to share: “We don’t know an exact number but we are expecting some people coming to protest, whatever their message is, whether it’s for or against this memorial service or what Charlie Kirk stands for, we don’t know, but we will be prepared.
“We have a specific team assigned and designated to take care of them and there will be an area designated for them. We’ve been working non-stop with all our partnering agencies, but we have to do it, you know, it’s our duty, and we take pride in keeping our community safe.”
Ahead of the funeral, it’s been reported that a 42-year-old man was arrested a couple of days ago as he performed a ‘security sweep’ on the venue.
Found to be carrying a gun and a knife when apprehended by police officers, Joshua Runkles was ‘doing advance security for a known guest’ who hoped to attend later in the week.
“We do not believe this person was attempting anything nefarious, however the advance was not done in proper coordination with the TPUSA security team or US Secret Service,” revealed TPUSA spokesperson Andrew Kolvet via Twitter.
“Also important to note that this was before the site had been fully sealed and locked down. Every precaution is being taken to ensure everyone’s safety.”
