Steve Kerr, coach of the Golden State Warriors and head coach of the United States Olympic gold medal-winning team was the guest of honor at the Democratic National Convention held in Chicago. In his speech to defend the Democratic candidacy and criticize the Republican candidacy, he alluded, of course, to Stephen Curry, star of his Warriors and the Dream Team.
Speaking about Donald Trump, Republican candidate for president, Kerr evoked the words of his star player in proclaiming that Kamala Harris and Tim Walz (vice presidential candidate) would tell Donald Trump to go the way Curry would. “After the results are tallied that night, we’ll be able to, in the words of the great Steph Curry, we can tell Donald Trump… night night!”
This was in reference to the usual ‘good night’ gesture that the brilliant three-pointer usually makes when he wins games, although Curry never actually utters the words claimed by Kerr.
As Kamala Harris bumbles her way towards the November 5 elections, the DNC are trying their best to garner as much celebrity support to improve her image.
Curry has already shown his support for Kamala Harris
Kerr is not the only member of the Warriors organization who has expressed his support for Kamala Harris. Stephen Curry recently showed his support for Harris , who began her political career in the San Francisco Bay Area, and exclaimed that the country should get behind her for the upcoming election.
Historically, the Warriors have always been against Donald Trump and have made their views on him very clear. In fact, they refused to go to the White House for the NBA champions’ traditional visit when he was president after winning championships in 2017 and 2018. The Warriors broke a years-long tradition by not endorsing many of Trump’s beliefs and policy decisions.
Visit with Joe Biden
Following Joe Biden’s victory over Donald Trump in the 2020 presidential election, the NBA champions resumed their tradition of meeting with the president at the White House. One of the teams that made this trip was the Warriors, who returned there for the first time since 2015, when they met with then-President Barack Obama after winning the NBA championship.
Harris is likely to receive support from many other NBA stars, as several players in the league have openly expressed their disdain for Donald Trump in recent years, especially during his tenure as president.
