One hockey fan dies at the one place that he loved to be.

An American Hockey League game featuring the Laval Rocket and Manitoba Moose came to a sudden stop due to a medical emergency.

With 1:13 remaining in the third period, a medical emergency kicked off in the spectator area. The Moose were up 3-0 at the time. In a video from the game, emergency responders could be seen performing cardiopulmonary resuscitation on someone in the stands.

The game between the Laval Rocket and the Manitoba Moose at Place Bell got eerily quiet. Things would only get worse.

Fan At Laval Rocket Game Tragically Loses His Life

A tragic incident occurred during a minor league hockey game between the Laval Rocket and the Manitoba Moose on Saturday. Michel Pelletier, a dedicated fan, passed away in the stands, his family confirmed.

Pelletier, who recently celebrated his 75th birthday, had moved to Laval to be closer to his beloved team. Unfortunately, it would end up at the same place he liked to spend so much time. During the game, which was nearing its conclusion, goaltender Jacob Fowler noticed something was wrong in the stands.

Fowler requested that the match be stopped. Unfortunately, Pelletier had suffered a cardiac arrest. Despite efforts by medical personnel, he would not survive. Since then, the Rocket has published a message of support and offered its thoughts to the family.

“We would like to offer our most sincere condolences to his family and all his loved ones,” the Laval Rocket team said in part. “He has always been there to encourage us and the Rockey family is wholeheartedly with his family.”

Last year, Orca Wiesblatt, an ECHL player, was identified as the man who died in a single-vehicle crash. He was just 25-years-old and had played 138 games as a member of the Hitmen from 2017 through 2021.

The AHL also issued a statement Sunday, saying, “We are grateful to the emergency responders at Place Bell who treated him, and our thoughts go out to his loved ones and to the Laval Rocket organization,” it said.

Sophie Pelletier identified herself as the daughter of the deceased. She said her father had died peacefully at the Rocket game, “where he liked to be. He was a really big fan of the club.”
