It has been an eventful year with Blake Lively as she has been entangled in a legal battle with Justin Baldoni for over a year.
Lively filed a legal complaint against her It Ends With Us co-star, Baldoni, for sexual harassment and for allegedly having a role in a ‘smear campaign’ against her back in December 2024.
The following month, Lively followed this up with another lawsuit for harassment and retaliation, claiming that Baldoni engaged in inappropriate behavior on set.
Baldoni filed back with his own countersuit where he accused Lively and her husband Ryan Reynolds as well as the New York Times of defaming him and extorting over the allegations.
However, this would be dismissed in June later that year and thrown out completely in October.
Now, legal documents that have been unsealed show singer Taylor Swift texting her friend Lively ahead of the New York Times piece coming out.
Hundreds of emails, texts and depositions were unsealed and one text conversation showed the pair discussing their strained friendship at the time and what they could do to repair it.
While the last name for Swift’s contact is redacted, Lively’s legal team identified her as the singer in a court filing.
The conversation, taking place leading up to Swift’s final Eras Tour show, appeared to start with Lively checking in on Swift.
It read: “Hey, just checking in. I have no reason to ask, but I dunno, I’ve been feeling like i should… is everything okay?
“I felt like a bad friend lately because I was such a sad sack who only talked about my own s*** for months.”
She went on to say: “I always want the opportunity to be a better friend if there’s something I unintentionally did.
“I know how busy and taxed you are, so I don’t expect any more from you ever. Just want to make sure all is good.”
Swift explained that Lively was ‘not wrong’ to feel things were off between them.
Swift answered: “No your not wrong, but it’s also not a big deal. I think I’m just exhausted in every avenue of my life and in recent months had been feeling a little bit of a shift in the way you talk to me.”
Swift went on to say it felt that recent conversations felt that she was ‘reading a mass corporate email sent to 200 employees.”
The star added: “You don’t need to apologize. Just come back please.”
